Eight Risks To Open A Restaurant

Restaurant ownership like other business venture involves certain risk and this is definitely a business that I would not invovle. To me a successful owner must posses a willingness to invest time, energy, commitment, money and uncertain risks.

Whats the Top Eight Risks to Open A Restaurant especially in Brunei Darussalam?

(1) low population in Brunei therefore low market. Thats why its difficult for us to target for more customers.
(2) Low Spending Power coz local are more likely to spend their money overseas than locally.
(3) Theres always "CopyCat" of your restaurant popular dish. For example, Pondok Sari Wangi's first invented dish "Ayam Penget", is now been seen everywhere. Then its hardly for you to be the special one.
(4) Unconstant food supply. Most of our raw materials such as beef , lamb and mutton are imported . If  suppliers out of materials, restaurant will be in trouble. For example, recently most Brunei restaurant is facing "NO FISH" issue because a new regulation been implemented that imported fish must be from country with "HALAL" certificate.
(5) Theres always "headhunter" starring at your best chef then tried to steal him away from you. When that happen you will cry without tears.
(6) Its not an easy task to maintain good relationship with your staff espciall your Top chef. If you fail, then you fail your kitchen too.
(7) You need a really good and trusted purchaser of your raw materials. If corruption happen then your cost will increase.
(8) We cant really afford high pay for good chef so thats mean we will face problem in controlling food quality. Good chef normally wont work in a small country with low paid. Therefore this will be another headache moment.

Therefore inexperienced Rabbit will not bother to open a restaurant coz its better to be a patron. LOL.
